Regular Saver Issue

hi i am trying to follow martins guide to regular savings accounts but have ran into a problem. i have opend my regular savers account with portman building society instead of halifax which is fine (better interest rate is all). i have also opened the 5.something percent basic savings account with icici bank as recommended. i am now trying to setup a standing order/direct debit/regular payment(whatever they call it, the person im speaking to at the time) to pay the savings to the portman account as is shown in martin's guide, but having emailed icici about how to do this i received this response,

Dear Ms. Green,

Thank you for your email.

There are two types of transfers that can be made from your HiSAVE Savings Account to your linked current account:

Immediate – In this case the processing of the transfer takes place immediately
Scheduled – In this case the processing of the transfer happens on a scheduled date in the future.

There is no option for recurring transfer while transferring funds to your linked current account.

Should you have any further queries, please email us at ukdirect@icicibank.com Our Customer Support Team will be glad to assist you.

Regards,
HiSAVE Team,
ICICI Bank UK Ltd.

they are basicallysaying there is no way of setting up a regular payment from this account to the portman account, i have tried phoning them but they insist it's not possible. so what i need to know is how did martin manage this and any others that have done the same?

cheers
chris

Do you spend all your monthly income? If not, use the money left to make regular payments from your current account. Otherwise make manual payments from ICICI (not a big job to spend 5 minutes every month). Or set up many scheduled payments if this is possible (I don't have this account and cannot be sure).
