If you are worried about a liability dispute or that the minister will lie, then you can make your claim directly off the third party's insurer. You could see if a claim handler would take this on. From the OP, liability looks clear cut.0

If the minister is upset with the size of your quote, then you should tell him that next time he should bloody look properly before he pulls out of junctions.0

I would treat it the same way as you would any other incident - if he wasn't your local minister, what would you be inclined to do? Why treat him any differently than anyone else? Afraid I have little sympathy for his argument that he doesn't want to affect his no claims - its the same for everyone! If you did go through your insurance and he admitted liability, at least you'd (presumably) have some sort of guarantee for the work done & comeback if it wasn't up to scratch - not sure if this would be the case if you had it done with the person he suggested? I don't think you're being unreasonable and you shouldn't feel bad about it!0
