Hi
My son found out yesterday that he has been accepted at Abertay University in Dundee. Obviously he is to late to apply for halls of residence and the rooms/shared accommodation we have been looking at are very expensive.
I was wondering if there are any peeps on here that know of decent priced, clean and safe accommodation in the Dundee area near to Abertay.
Cheers
Karen

Has abertay defintely said there are no rooms left in halls? It might still be worth putting in an application in as people always drop out at the start of term.
Most students in dundee live in the perth road/blackness road area. He wants to avoid Hilltown, as whilst cheap it's not a great area to live in. You should be able to get a room in a shared property for around £250 a month (my one bed flat is £360 a month). There are always rooms in managed properties (i.e. The hub) but that is pretty expensive.Mortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30000 -
As Becky says, it's always worth applying anyway. Get him to call the accommodation office to see whether there's any chance of getting university accommodation. Looking at their website, unlike most universities they don't guarntee new students accommodation no matter when they apply. Therefore they must be used to students having difficulty finding accommodation and should be able to offer advice on where to look. Have you looked at the private accommodation sites listed on the university website?
It may be worth contacting the Student Association and asking them whether they have an accommodation board
Has your son joined the Freshers facebook group? He may get some advice from there, or the university facebook group which does have a halls/room to rent discussion0 -
