Holidays for Singles

I am interested in going on some short breaks to Europe but I am single and none of my friends can afford to go away with me at the moment.
I have not travelled alone before and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations or opinions of singles holidays. I am interested in doing a lot of sightseeing, I love art, maybe do some dancing and eating out, etc. Want to explore Europe a lot more as well as South America. I don't want to spend a fortune but am I just better off tailoring my own package?
I am interested in going on escorted holidays as I am not really used to travelling alone and wouldn't mind a guided tour and the chance to meet people.
Any links or advice is welcome.

What about https://www.friendshiptravel.com0

It's a tricky one, you start off having to pay a King's ransom as a single traveller ... and then along come these companies that target singles and their prices are even bigger.
Here's another site to check out, but I just fell off the sofa at the prices

It is my experience that Olympic Holidays are very good with their under occupancy charges - Greece is very used to visitors and there are usually tours and trips every day. This could be a much cheaper way of exploring the area you are in but in the safety of a group.Mags - who loves shopping0

I travel alone but have used Intrepid & GAP groups in the past - not used either in Europe or South America yet though. Groups can be mixed ages but all like minded travellers usually. I have made some great friends travelling this way. I also add on a few nights at the start or end to do some travelling on my own. They book things like hotel, border crossings etc. This works for me - you don't spend lots of time planning to get from a to b or finding places to sleep. Although I love the planning & researching of places before I go! There is time where you can go off on your own if you want or somethimes the group visit places together. What I like is there is no single supplement - you usually share a room with someone of the same sex. PM me if you have any questions. I've done 3 trips with Intrepid in Asia & 1 with GAP in Africa - visiting 3 countries.0

I agree with digital1, I have not travelled with Intrepid but GAP are great, I have travelled with them in Central America alone, and with a friend in South America and both times made fantastic friends. They tend to attract younger people, mostly 25-35 years old, with similar views on life. I think because they only have up to 16 people in a group you get to know people quite well. It sounds like the kind of thing you want, GAP tours are generally very active/adventurous type holidays, but with lots of choices about what you do. If you need more info just ask.
PS They are not 'singles' holidays but all the ones I have been on were about half single people and a mix of others.0
