Jessops Selling Used as New...

I have purchased a supposedly brand new DSLR from Jessops today. I have heard about them selling used items as new before and wanted to check that I really had got a new camera. When I got home I took 1 picture then loaded it on to my pc and the checked shutter count which said this was the 2713th picture taken with the camera.

This camera cost me over £1000, was only bought after 1pm today so I clearly have not had time to take all of these shots. I did pay for it with my visa card.

I am concerned as these cameras only have a limited shutter life (ok of 150,000) but for them to have taken nearly 3000 shots seems like a lot to me.

I am just wondering where I stand with them.

1. what legally do they have to do to fix this and
2. to me such a high shutter count means this is a used camera yet I was assured that this was new, are they allowed to do this?
