Did anyone sign up to this where you get £30 in vouchers after 3 months?

I havent had mine yet but I have paid 3 months off in full over £100 each time.

  • I've got bad news for you - you will not be getting the £30 in vouchers.

This happened to me so I queried it with Barclaycard on the phone and discovered that there is a very big catch.

I ensured that each of my first 3 month's statements exceeded £100 but they do not work on the statement date. They calculate the sending in 30 day increments from the date on which the account was opened. In my case it meant that in the second 30 day period I had spent far more than £100 even though the statement showed it to be just over £100 so in the third 30 day period I spent less than £100 by their calculation even though my statement for that period also exceeded £100.

When they told me this on the telephone I asked to speak to a supervisor. She explained that it was all in the small print but finally agreed as a goodwill gesture to award me £15 and in doing so acknowledged that I was not the first customer to complain and apologised that I had been "misled". I know that Barclaycard are "technically" correct in what they have done but they have undoubtedly misled us.

I've had to call Barclaycard Goldfish as my extra points did not automatically appear. Wasted 20mins on the phone, and they manually went though each 30days of spending to ensure I hit their target.

Not matching the statement date stikes me a very underhand/sneaky - anyway I did qualify and they are referring my account to a supervisor to update.

Do I get to choose which establishment I get vouchers for?

    thanks
  • I think i am going to suffer the same problems as you guys, i spent over £100 a month on each of my first 3 statements, no points after 4 months so i rang up and was told i had qualified and they would be credited at end of september, checked today but still no points!
  • Rang them today and was told i had not qualified due to the periods of 30 days from opening of account rarher than statement date, this was after i had previously been told i had qualified, told i would be called back within 48 hours to have it explained why i was told i had qualified then not!

Rang main barclaycard number and told them to close my account and exactly why when they asked, not got time to mess about trying to chase their underhand misleading offers.

Will stick to my capital one cashback card which gives me a much better payout each year - no arguments !!!

I checked my points balance today (3 months finished couple of months ago) and the bonus has been added.

Ordered £25 highstreet vouchers and 2 cinema tickets.

So £36.60 total worth, let's just hope they turn up!

Thought I'd relay my story & problems getting Barclaycard (BC) to issue my points/ £30 of high street vouchers.

Both my wife and I applied for the card from the link in Martins Email back in April. We were both accepted and stated to use the card, making sure we spent the required £100 per month.

Like many others the points were not automatically added to my card balance after month four. So I called customers services, and I then became aware of the spending £100 within 30 days, not statement period. (This seems to be a very sneaky clause) fortunately both my wife and I had met the spending criteria. The call was left that someone from the rewards dept would call each of us back.

I received my call a couple of days later from the rewards team. I was advised that whilst I had met the spending criteria, I would not be getting the point as it was an online deal only, and they had been informed by BC that I'd filled in a paper form! I almost fell of my chair - I spend 8+ hours a day in front of a PC and was almost offended at the suggestion that I completed a paper form!

I insisted that I completed the form online, and had the email confirmation. I was transferred back to BC (apparently the Rewards Dept is infact a separate company).
Eventually I got to speak with customer services, and they actually credited my card with £30 instead of the vouchers/points.

Unfortunately my wife has been less successful, she had to chase BC again, and was told that her previous call log had been closed (without calling her) and that she too had applied via a paper form! Again not the case!

She is now hoping for a call back on Tuesday – I’ll report back the outcome!

Not a good start to a customer relationship!
  • I'm in a dispute with them at the minute. I applied for the account and got an email 19th June saying that my application was approved and my card would be sent within 10 days. I checked for the bonus points recently and there's a statement dated 18th June on my online account (a statement before they had even approved my application or sent my card!). This is such a Barclaycard Goldfish scam that I searched online for others and here you all are!
