I got a new HD TV recently, and am awaiting delivery of a Blu-Ray player to go with it.
I'm thinking about getting a home cinema kit for the speakers, but all the ones I've seen come with a DVD player which I don't require.
Is it possible just to buy the setup minus the DVD player?

You'll have to look at getting a seperate AV receiver with a set of speakers. Somewhere like Richer Sounds may be a start.Dave. :wave:0 -

you have been looking at one box solutions . now it's time to forget the stuff aimed at little kids , and people who buy there AV equipment at Asda , and explore the world of real home cinema . Real Home Cinema ( for the most part ) is seperates .
like previous posters have advised Richer sounds would be a good place to start .
hooking your new Blu ray up to a modern Amp is a simple HDMI connection.
. make sure Amp has Video switching so you can then feed the picture the Blu ray has sent to the Amp out of the Amp to you HD tv. i doubt if any new amps sold by richer sounds are not able to do this .
Don't spend a fortune on HDMI leads , something that has a decent build quality will do fine . something like this will do fine

i have one of these ( it was freebie with a subscription ) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chord-Silver-Plus-HDMI-Interconnect/dp/B0017HM1AW and i cannot tell any difference to a £10 lead .
Speaker cable is worth spending the extra on . you can get great prices on Ebay . i use this in my £5k system and it is excellent . if you have a long run to the rears then you can cut costs by using a reasonable £1 per Mtr cable . again Ebay is good for this .

if you stretch to some decent plugs for the cable these are what i use
