Damaged Items from Launderette

So, trying to support the local businesses, we decided to take our king size duvet and dog's cushion inner to the local launderette. The dog's cushion has come back with a fairly big hole in it.You can see the circles where it has been sitting in a dryer.

I don't know whether they haven't noticed but they didn't tell me when I picked it up. I don't have a receipt, and paid in cash, but I have the stub they gave me with the amount when I gave the items in. So basically, I'm going to complain, but should I ask for a refund? As this item is damaged. And we've only just bought it! It wasn't cheap either!

I take it you had a service wash rather than doing it yourself? If so, do they have any policies on damage, maybe a notice displayed in the launderette itself? I would go in and explain what happened and see what they say, then you will have an idea of whether you are happy with their solution or not and can decide on your next step.
  • They have a compensation notice on their website if they damage any items. There is nothing in the actual premises, not even an opening times. I have emailed them about this. Thanks for your reply.
