How many units should I be using
Options
If I were being extra super efficient etc how many units do you reckon a family should use for gas and electric each week. There's two adults and a 4 yr old. One child and adult in all day every day.
I take meeting readings every Sunday and it would seem gas is 3 units (34kw) each week and my electricity is between 60 and 68 units per week.
Are this sort of readings acceptable or would they be classed as high. What should I be aiming for?

Well I am a single person and my useage is exactly the same and I try to be good so you must be doing pretty well.
If you want to compare type your figures into imeasure dot co dot uk and it will produce graphs against other familes with the same number of people and house type.0 -
I dont use Gas only standard rate electric (Non E7). In summer I get though about 4-5 units/Kw of electric a day. In winter with heating on it can be upto 40-50 units a day0

In Summer
0.3 Kw * 24 = 7.2 units a day
7.2 * 32 = 230 a month @ 12p a unit = £27.60 a month
£27.60 used and pay £80 a month = £52.40 overpaid a month
Heating off for 7 months a year = £366.80 in credit
In Winter I use about 40 units a day
40 * 32 days = 1280 units a month @ 12p a unit = £153.60 a month
£153.60 used and pay £80 a month = £73.60 underpaid a month
Heating on for 5 month a year (£73.60 * 5 months) = £360.80 underpaid
£366.80 credit built up from the off period - £360.80 Underpaid during the on period = £6.00 credit0
