Water being turned off tomorrow!

Hi guys,
After some more advice, thinking that some of you might have some knowledge on the subject.
Today the uni have put up posters on the block doors to say that the water supply will be turned off tomorrow from 10am to 5pm as they want to change some boilers. Now it might sound picky, but can they just do this with such short notice, especially as its not an emergency?
Cheers in advance,
Alan.

i'm afraid so.
It's their water supply not yours. wouldnt you rather have a nice new boiler rather than one that may be dangerous?
Granted they could have waited 4 weeks until the uni term is over...Come to my garden in South Bucks and i'll find you a wasp...0 -
in my uni they turned the power off to my office at 2 days notice.... and the heating went off to the building with no notice.......... and then the water went off and we had to ask whether it was a burst main, when it was really building work that they couldn't be bothered to tell us about.....
so the answer to your question - they probably shouldn't, but will do anyway!!:happyhear0 -
Fill up some bottles. Get up early for a shower. Have a day out.

You're lucky you got any warning at all! Last term, both our mens and womens bathrooms got locked off for refurbishment the day that Lent term started. We ended up with 40 people using 1 toilet and 2 showers for a week.
They should have given you more notice - we kicked off about our situation and got £15 compensation, but we had a number of other problems with our accommodation as well. You can try asking for compensation, but we had to pester uni staff for weeks to get ours, and you might not find it's worth it.0
