I am really thrilled with my savings, they may not be massive but they all help.
£20 a month by ending my mobile contract and getting a PAYG instead
£4 a month ended a work lottery
£6 a month ended a different lottery
£15 a month off my food bill thanks to OS (more work to do here, but its a start)
£20 a month ended a save as you earn scheme at work
£10 a month cleared my Next balance
Thats nearly £70 a month for me and I'm thrilled!! Thanks for the inspiration. :T

Hiya, just wondered where you got your username from ?
As a huge horses fan, was it the horse that led Red Rums Grand National of 1977 for a circuit ????Smile!0 -
Hello Daddyo, its sure is. Im a huge horse racing fan, particularly the jumpers. Although I am not quite old enough to remember those races from the 70's I can recall my parents sticking me in front of the TV to watch the 81 National. I couldn't pick between Spartan Missile or Aldaniti, so I plumped for Spartan Missile. You know what happened next and that has really set the scene for betting success ever since! lol
Having watched most of the TV/video clips and read/collected every Grand National book imaginable there are 2 names that I am particularly endeared to. Boomdocker and Freebooter. When I own a racehorse (dream on) I really like the one worded names like these. They just sound so cool.
Anyhow, I am rabbiting on now, could talk for hours about this. Nice chatting with ya.Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000 -
Nice one !!! At the age you were, i guess you didnt know how to ask for a reverse forecast on Aldanitti and Spartna Missile !!
You sound just a little younger than me - my first national was Grittars aged 8!!
Check out on ebay the sports dvds - ive got some racing ones off there. Got the one from the sportsman with 11 full nationals on there, including all Red Rums wins (and Docker refusing when well clear!), Foinavon, Grittar, Corbierre and of course Aldanitti !!
Also seasonal review vids.
Anyway,, i'm rabbitting now !!Smile!0 -

Are you sure it was a good idea to end that? Surely it's a good idea to save for the future.0 -
Hi thanks for that. At the time I needed to pay off bills/debts that were accruing interest so it seemed a false economy to save in one hand when my debts were growing with the other. So for a short period of 6 months or so I rerouted this cash.
However that was 4 months ago that I posted that although I had stopped that a while before hand. Since clearing my debts/bills off 2 catalogues and a credit card I have now started to 'pay myself' by opening a savings account elsewhere. (I think I posted this elsewhere in the 'what are you doing to get debt free' thread.)
I do have one more big loan (albeit interest free its 20% of my income!!) that ends in November then I intend to increase my savings further as you are right it is good to save although it shouldn't be at the expense bills etc.

I have a small shop and when my electricity contract with British gas expired the new one was an increase of 400% mainly the standing charge as I hardly use any electricity, that was now up from 17 pence a day to 72p a day.!!!!
After complaining about the rise, they dropped it to 34 pence a day, they sent me the contract, and after looking around the web using supermarket.com found I could still get it for half that price if I changed supplier
So rung back there customer retention guy, and after offering him the chance of lowering there quote, he consulted with his manager lololol
agreed to DROP all standing charges so now only back for electricity
RESULT!!!
So down from 72 pence a day to ZERO a day

Excellent logic. You will go far. Or, at least, your money will!0 -
