Does anyone live in an area managed by Places for People? Or failing that, does anyone have any experience of dealing with housing associations similar to this?
I've recently bought a house (freehold) in an area managed by them and am expected to pay an approximately £20 per month service charge to them.
I'm finding it difficult to get any clear response from them. What I'd like to know is should I have some kind of service agreement? I would have thought if I have to pay for a service I should have some clear written explanation of what it covers, etc?

Why should you have to pay anything at all to them if you have purchased a freehold property? Do you own 100% of the property or did you buy with shared ownership?
I have dealt with Places for People in the past. It wasn't difficult - but they are kinda slow....DFW #414, MoneySaver, Income Booster

They own the area and the service charge pays for things like ground maintence, and the caretaker I think.
So.... if Places for People aren't that common on here, has anyone had any dealings with a service charge on a freehold property in general?0
