You are usualy told verbally/written in T&C's that any left over months on your contract will be added onto the end of your new one if you are allowed an early up-grade. Very common practice0

i really dont see what the big deal is for the OP
1) they got told they can get an early upgrade, in reality this is the networks marketing ploy to tie you in before you start looking around closer to the end of your normal term.
2) you're excited as you always "cant wait to upgrade" as lots happen in terms of phone releases in 18mths and your current handset is out of date
3) the OP has not been ripped off as they have the benfit of the calling packing for the months being charged.
Just wait another month, not a long time in the grand scale of life :-)0
