US winning bidder - I stated I will post to UK only

Hi any advice wouldbe appreciated. The title of the thread says it all really,
I auctioned something and I always post only to UK and this was stated on the auction. I have someone from the US bid and win on one of the items.
This is the first time ever its happened.. what do I do?

Thanks in advance

I had one of these, a newbie. Said she hadn't bid on my item. Just email them and ask how they want the item posting, and list the rates and charges. 9/10 times they will cough at the cost and refuse to pay as mine did! If that happens start a non paying bidder dispute. If they agree to the cost of postage, invoice them and send the item. Its all you can do really.

Just remember you're dealing with someone who re-elcted George Bush and probably thinks UK is the Code for a US state!

Click on the bidding history and near the bottom it should say remove bids and you can remove bids on your item as long as it means certain criteria and one of the should be that a buyer from a county you don't ship to and you should be able to remove the bids they have placed on your item

To avoid this happening in future you need to set your seller preferences specifically to exclude bidders from countries that you do not ship to.

Actually while you are setting your seller preferences have a look at some of the other ones you can choose as well, there are some useful ones in there.

As soolin says, you really need to specifically exclude bidders by country. Part of the problem is that if you're on ebay.com and you have it set to show everyone who has products available to the US, your auction would come up. It's no excuse that the purchaser didn't read what the auction actually said, but I guess it can be confusing for some people.

    Hi all

I contacted the buyer to say sorry I wouldn't be able to complete the sale as I don't ship to the US.
It turns out shes over here for a while and has a paypal account registered to her english address. So wasn't as much of a problem as I first thought it might be.

In the absence of thanks button - Thanks to you all for your replies

This is a must as many buyers don't (or can't!) read auction blurb. I have had overseas buyers assume that the UK is part of the US. I had one who kept trying to pay in dollars because she didn't understand what sterling was. When I emailed her to say it was British pounds she said, "what's that?"

Mind you, I have had quite a few people email me and say, "I notice you have your auction set to UK only. I am in America/Australia/Outer Mongolia and would like to bid. Can you remove the barrier against foreign bidders so I can bid". Do they think I set my auctions for UK only just for a laugh??

Someone in France has asked me to allow them to bid before, and I have removed my restrictions and allowed them.
In my eyes I got about double I would have got in the end so I was a happy bunny.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
