I have used music magpie a couple of times, and found them very good, they offer from 20p upwards for a cd or dvd, there site is easy to use, you do not have to pay to post your items to them and a cheque is received within a week. I have not made a fortune with them but have only let them have cd's I no longer want so the 15 pounds I made (for 19 cd/dvd's) I was pleased with.
  • I have just been looking at this as well... I have input over 100 cd barcodes and it tells me it is worth just over £40... What do you reckon? Is it actually worth the hassle? And are they strict on their criteria because a coule of the cases are cracked/damaged...

    Thanks,
    Mokey

I actually wanted to use music magpie to sell my mobile as it said it would offer £40 for the one i have, is there a better website to sell the mobile on for money instead of Argos or Debenchams vouchers.

Also if Musicmagpie are not the best for selling CD/DVD which one is???

There is a comparison site for selling your mobiles, tells you which sites offer what in cash and in vouchers for the make of your phone. It doesn't have music magpie on it though. I can't remember the site but I googled mazooma (sp) and it was on the sponsered links down the side, I'll see if I can find the link
  • I only ever use Music Magpie if I know that the CDs I have aren't worth selling on Amazon/Ebay/Playtrade i.e. if the prices on those websites are low and I know after the expense of posting the item and the cost of the envelope that I'll be in minus numbers. It's better to make 30p to £2 per CD with Music Magpie than nothing.
Currently unemployed (redundancy) but in control of my finances and hoping to get a new job, start a Masters course and save up for a house. A tough challenge but MSE will get me through it. :)
  • Hi,
I've sold quite a lot of cds on music magpie, a lot of them are only sold for 30p, but some really random ones, that wouldn't have sold on ebay or amazon, have gone for over a pound. In total I've made £70 on cds that I never listen to. Plus I put them on my computer before sending them.

If you've got something that you can sell for more elsewhere its not worth it, but for many its a quick and easy way of selling it.

They've accepted ones from me that have cracked cases.

    Good luck!
  • I have a box full of CDs in the loft that will probably never get listened to again and most of everything I have that I value is on my iPod anyway. Have a few old playstation games and I am sure there is some DS games too that I could do with getting rid of. Convert those to cash, then in turn, convert the cash to saver stamps with Morrison's for contributing to the Xmas shopping this year

save-a-lot, I don't wanna be the one to say this, but if you sell the CDs, you should really delete the tracks off the iPod too, as you won't really own them anymore...

almillar, I don't want to be the one to say this, but read my post, I did not actually say that I have duplicate tracks on both CD and on also on my iPod did I, I actually said that most of what I value is on my iPod.. you have assumed that what is on my iPod is not purchased as downloads. Well... you have assumed wrongly.
