Blimey, you can find a way to attack a group of people whatever the subject.

At this stage, all this is bluff and bluster.

What any party does AFTER they have got in, is a completely different matter.

behave yourself Devon - you're obviously looking to cause more arguments again.
  • Ding Ding.....
Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk
    (MSE Andrea says ok!)
  • I'm still waiting to be convinced by any of the mainstreamers as to how they really intend to deal with this godawful mess.

Christ, I wish someone would come clean and state the blinding f***** obvious (i.e. 'bloody hell, this is dreadful. taxes will go up, services down. get used to it kids. it's gonna take yrs').

GB looked like a busted flush last yr but then I look at ollie and think 'nice tie, nice school but what do you bring to the table?'

not much by the sounds of it. the city boys aren't convinced (allegedly) but then they've fallen out with their old (and generous) mate GB.

which kinda makes it tough for the rest of us unless we put faith in st. vince.
(I'm not lib-dem btw; in fact I'm not sure what I am any more).
  • I need the rates to stay low for another two years at least to get a decent deal on my remortgage! Cant see this happening somehow and ill be stuck paying a stupid rate for years.

I have been trying to say that the Tories agree with the low interest rates for months. For some reason, some folk (on this baord) are hoping that a Tory Government will significantly increase rates.

Seems to be the final nail in the coffin, the last great hope the tories would raise IR's and crash the market fully.

Yeah, agreed. I just feel they are lying to us to save their own pathetic political hides. The idea that a history muppet like Broon could ever sort things out was and still is truly laughable. Nothing they have done has demonstrated they have the gonads to tackle the issues we will face.

If they told us all "no more tax credits, pay for doctor visits, pay for prescriptions, scrap trident, back out of Aghanistan, and stomach reduced services for 10 years; and THEN we will be back on a solid footing" I could accept it. As it is, they are just dithering about, picking at the edges of a gaping wound.

I've nothing intelligent to add as usual. But just wanted to cut and paste this roll call of the enemy within...

i don't think they would have a choice

That's what an amazing amount of people seem to be missing Chucky, the fact that interest rates will not go up to previous crash levels until recovery has not only started but well under way and established. No Government (or the BOE) is going to risk halting a recovery, by recovery I don't mean just 'technically' coming out of recession I mean getting just partly on the way back to where we were, which is still some way off happening.

We're too close to the election - they're all worried that if they're too bare faced about it that the other party will jump on it and gain an advantage. But we all know the realities of the situation.

Well most people on this board anyway. Probably about 60 million people in the country who fully up to speed yet ;)
  • I expect the Tories to be saying all sorts of things in the run up to the forthcoming election, no doubt culminating in Moomin-face Cameron promising to personally write a cheque for £500 to every person in the country, and arrange for them to go on a date with the celebrity of their choice once he gets in.

I wonder how many years down the line they'll continue to blame the outgoing goverment? I could only blame the temp before me for a couple of months.

    Quite agree with you.
No matter who gets in we certainly won't like what they do and we'll end up wanting them out.
The only thing we can be sure of is we'll all end up a lot poorer and they NEVER do what they promised to do before they were elected.
I've always voted Tory but won't for the first time ever as I have no confdence in this particular group they have now.
I think they'll be just as bad as the Labour party should they be elected.
Don't expect any miracles people,it is'nt going to be pretty.
