Always at least £30-£50 in credit with BT

Every quarter our BT statement is always in credit which is then put towards the next bill.
Monthly payments are £26.50. (x 3 = £79.50)
Unlimited Weekend Plan £37.50
Calling Features Pack £7.50
Phone Usage £19.49
= £64.49

What is an Unlimited Weekend Plan? Should we stay in credit to be on the safe side or ask to reduce DD? Is it worth jumping ship to another provider to get cheaper deal? Or any other ideas to take advantage of always being in credit? Thanks.:o

    Whole bill quarterly direct debit :confused: How are your calls mde up ? If your calls are all 01 / 02 / 03 / 0845 and 0871 then anytme plan would be cheaper. What are the call features you have. Many of these can be had for free.
  • Feels safer with monthly DD as seems as if in more control if makes sense?!! Call features is just caller display £7.50 per quarter. Quick glance at numbers called show (totals 89) 090 / 0208 / 08451 / 08700 / 0708 / 08450 / 08456 We don't go in for marathon phone calls and 'friends and family' seems redundent as not really call anyone on the list and no other regularly called numbers to add.

    Just four comments:

    (1). You're lending BT money on a permanent basis;

    (2). Do you realise you're also paying unnecessarily for Caller Display (if you signed up for BT Privacy, it'd be free);

    (3). Are you aware you're making Premium Rate calls (090) and disguised Premium rate calls (070);

    (4). It depends on the number of 01/02/03/0845/0870 calls you make weekday daytime and weekday evenings but you'd probably save a fair bit using 18185 (www.18185.co.uk) for those calls.
    Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
