Nokia/Vodafone PAYT text messages problem

Wasn't sure where to put this but since the mobile phone forum seems more to do with contracts/purchases etc I thought I'd try here.

My Nokia 6300's memory was full and so I couldn't receive text messages without deleting a few first to make some room. Eventually I decided to delete all the messages in my 'sent items' folder. At the same time I received a couple of texts from Vodafone about WAP and other services (saying they were sending me some details) and deleted them without really reading them.

Since doing the above I haven't been able to receive any text messages.

I've looked in message settings and found nothing obvious as to why I can't receive texts.

I'd appreciate any help you guys could offer...or maybe I have to ring Vodafone?

Thanks for any help offered.

  • The first thing to do would be to check that you have space on the phone to receive messages. Then I's send a txt to yourself, I know it sounds daft but sometimes it can free up the sms function. If this doesnt work then check the sms centre number on your phone.

Ifstill no joy do a full reboot on the phone: with h/set on remove the battery and sim, battery back in turn on, remove battery replace sim & battery turn on try again, if sill not working call voda from ur mobile with an alternative number available that they can call you back on if necessary to resolve issue.
  • Problem solved. Switched off, removed battery and memory card, waited a minute, replaced battery and memory card, and switched back on.

    Now receiving texts again.
