Cheap Social Work Books

Hi this is the first time I have posted in this forum, but I expect to be here much more often as of Sept as I will be back at uni then!
I was wondering if anyone knew of any places to get books for university courses cheaply.
i have checked out Amazon, but even buying the cheapest used ones the prices are pretty shocking! I have looked on ebay, but obviously there is no guarantee that the books you want will be listed there and if they are listed as BIN Brand New, they're similar prices to amazon or the shops.
I don't really want to wait until I am at uni to see if people are selling them off cheap, as I am earning at the moment and now would be a good time to start stocking up. Does anyone know of any little unknown gems that would be good for picking up books - doesn't matter if they're new or second (or 3rd or 4th) hand although the newer the edition the better, in this case specifically Social Work books.
Thanks in advance!

You'll find there aren't that many you actually need to buy, as there are vast resources through journals and hopefully your uni has a good library. Also, many texts are available as ebooks through university libraries. It's good practice to be using journals frequently, as they are more up to date and will enhance your skills for future learning (once qualified, you are required to continue learning)
Unfortunately, there don't seem to be any outlets on the web selling cheap social work texts. I did manage to pick up a few from a discount bookshop in Bury, but apart from that I've only had to buy about one book per module, with the average price being about £17.0 -
Glitterati...out of interest where will you be studying? I've applied for the BA Social work but left my application until late in the UCAS year, so am still waiting to hear...0

I too have plans to study social work at Uni this year and am applying through UCAS extra to a uni that I decided was more suited location wise after turning down offers received elsewhere, so hope they say yes, worth the risk.
In terms of the the books yes they are very expensive I agree .. I might be able to help as I have some surplus ones I was going to put on ebay, 3 books, in an excellent condition, 2 unread (duplicates) We might be able to help each other out. PM ifor more details.
Either way, good luck with your studies and search for cheap books.0 -
