As your radiator sizes have changed since your first post, I would be interested to see how he is going to fit these without interfering with the central heating system.0

thanks guys..now you are getting me confused...the plumber never mentioned anything about the inhibitor...all he said that he will be changing the radiator panels..this is another reason for him not to put new thermostatic valves as without putting new TRVs he is not interfering with the central heating system and all he is doing is changing panels although he said it will be a a whole day job!!! and by the ay the total cost now is £470 for (including labour):
2 radiators (double convectors) 500x1800 mm
1 radiator (double convector) 600x 1800
1 radiator (single convector) 500x500
Does that sound reasonable?
Good morning: when old rads are replaced fresh water will be added to the CH system...if central heating system inhibitor is not added to prevent corrosion, down the road you would be in a world of trouble. This 'plumber' is clearly planning to do the jobs 'on the cheap' and will cut some serious corners in detriment to the performance and longevity of your CH system. In other words, he is cheaper than the other quotes because he is not doing the same work to the same standard.
As many have discovered on this forum, the cheapest option isn't always the moneysaving one in the end. Btw...changing four rads, fitting 4 TRVs/lockshields, adding CH inhibitor and balancing the CH system could easily be charged out as a day's labour.
