XBox Live Gold problem - Windows ID ??

Hi there, can anyone help me out here at all.
My son has Xbox Live Gold, and has done for years, but today it has just come up with a message that says "parent windows live id not valid for this account" therefore he cannot log into live.
I'm pretty sure I've not cancelled anything, has anyone had this problem before? and can you help us out at all?
The console and account were set up for us when he first got it ages ago, so now I'm totally in the dark as to what to do next.
Any advice anyone?

Have you tried logging into the e-mail account associated with your sons Xbox account to make sure it's still OK?
Whoever set him up, set his proper age, which meant an adults Live/Hotmail account had to be used to set the Xbox account up.Dave. :wave:0
