I want to create a gift for my best friend. We've known each other for 23 years and I'd really like to make her a collection of all of the songs that we've sung infront of a mirror into a hairbrush.

I don't do downloading and I don't own an MP3 player.

Should I buy an ipod and buy the tunes?

Will they all be available? (We've loved everything from the Beatles to Peter Sarstedt to Mika!)

How much would about 50 random songs cost? (most of them from the 90's)

Also is it true that you can only use one computer to download tunes? If so this would prevent her from subsequently downloading anything on this machine which is a gift for her! (More broadly what happens if you sell/ brake your computer?)

Is it possible to download tunes to a CD instead?
How much does this cost?
What's the availability of tunes?

Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all.

you can move songs between PC's she just needs to sych them back to hers

you do not need to buy from Itunes , any MP3 site will do , amazons for example will automatically add the songs to itunes anyway

Even if you do put the tracks onto an mp3 player (which would be a lovely thought), it would also be a good idea to put the tracks onto cd's as well, they your friend has two options on which way to play them.

If you put them onto the cd's as 'audio' you will get about 20 tracks per cd - of course if she has a cd player that plays mp3's then you can put a couple of hundred tracks on a cd.
