Wireless adaptor?

I've ordered a buffalo linkstation 250gb hard drive to connect to my hub which joins with the ethernet cable. I was told by a friend that a wireless adaptor can be used instead of the cable. Is that correct and if so, what kind of thing is it because it would suit me to have it connecting wirelessly to the hub as I could locate it a less prominent position than the hub which is a bit of an eyesore in the hallway
Many thanks in anticipation

Sorry for late reply. I had a look about and couldn't find anything relevant to what your friend mentioned. Your best bet would be to ask your friend for specifics. You/he said a wireless adaptor can be used instead of the cable. From the product description, to me, this would mean you could attach a wireless USB adaptor to it. Although, I'm not sure this would work as there would be no easy way to install the hardware drivers/software for the the usb device on it, unless you dig deep and look into 3rd party firmware/software.
Only other thing I can think of is, too purchase a separate wireless router, which you could attach directly to the linkstation (via ethernet cable) then bridge the new wireless router to the old one wirelessly allowing you to place the linkstation wherever you liked. Seems extreme but that's all that I can think of.
I believe the pro version of this linkstation actually has wireless built in, so again, it's feasible you can attach a wireless adapter to it. Either ask your friend or contact customer support directly for the product.0 -
I've since found out that a wireless ethernet bridge will do the job - it plugs into the ethernet cable socket on the linkstation and connects wirelessly to the router - i bid and won a linksys one on ebay that will do the job - transfer speeds are slightly slower than direct cable but that isn't a huge issue.
Thanks again for the repliesBORN TO RIDE - FORCED TO DRIVE
