New battery for Panasonic Toughbook?

The battery on my lap-top is completely knackered. This lap-top is about 5-7 years old and works fine otherwise. Until recently the battery was fine too but after coming back from a short holiday it seems to have lost the will to go on. I had a quick look in PC world and a few other online suppliers but the cheapest price I could see was in the region of £270 just for a new battery. Surely not?! Does anyone have any better suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

You could try ebay, the problem is that the batteries don't last forever, especially older nimh ones. Some Panasonic came with a refresh utility, to completely discharge the battery, then charge it up. It may give it some life, but a new Dell may be a better idea (about the same price as your battery quote)Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

How would you do that then?0

these are instructions for a slightly different model, not sure if it is available on the toughbook. There may be settings in the bios, do you still have the manuals?

Might be a worth look here as well:

I found a replacement battery for a friends Packard Bell for around £100.
Albertross makes a good point though. You could shell out £100+ on a new battery and the whole thing die a month later. I'd very tempted to save the money towards one of the bargain Dell laptops.0 -
No, I don't have any of the manuals. Will take a look at the sites above though so thanks. Don't want to replace it really as it works fine on a wired basis. It's just a bit annoying that the battery died shortly after we went wireless!0
