Wireless Access At Home

Where is best place to buy a Netgear Wireless Access Router with USB wireless adaptor (for laptop).

I remember some shops were offering a special cheap bundle a little while back but can't seem to find any now!

Thanks. Why is it better via a PCMCIA card as opposed to USB?

  • we have just gone wireless, its great ,we got ours from amazon , we bought a dg834g and it included a free netgear usb wg111 which works really well. I was amazed how easy it was to set up, we purchased a usb because we were not sure about putting a card inside computer.
    Hope this helps

Thanks. Have done a search on Amazon but can't find the bundle deal. Are they not offering any longer?

    Hi,

    I have just gone wireless!!!

I have a desktop computer and a laptop which i brought off ebay. The laptop came with belkin 54g wireless card.

I was advised to get a belskin ADSL modem/router which i brought off ebay again for £50.

I would highly recommend the belkin setup. They have a freephone 24/7 technical support which i found essential. The card also has a lifetime warrenty.

The cheapest price i found for the modem/router was £65 at simply computers. You should be able to get the card for about £24 pound at pc world online.

    Hope that helps!!!!!

also remember when you get all your wireless gear setup to set about making it secure so only you can use it, I've just stumbled across someones new xmas present with teh wonderful unsecured network ID of 'belkin54g', remember it's your broadband connection that is transmitting whatever anyone else chooses to use your netowrk for
