ive tried searching for new hardware through control panel and im pretty sure its a missing driver...
tech help with pc world is needless to say useless. they have told me to take the tower into pc world to get it checked but obviously i bought online as i cant get to the store..... anyway.....

Card readers are often connected via a USB header on the motherboard, so they typically show as USB hub-based devices, and they don't ~usually~ need anything other than the drivers that come built into XP or Vista.
Have you checked to see if any of the USB ports work?
The next thing to check would be to look in Device Manager and see if any devices are shown as not working properly. If so, you may need to download the latest drivers from the Packard Bell support website.0 -
Make sure the pc is running in full performance mode with the full power option... Gah I can't remember what it's called but it's under the power settings in control panel, it's like a power saving option and anything but the max power option turns off the card reader.0

yeah power mode is on full will cheack the other usb ports now....0

hmmm all the usb drives work apart from the SD xard drive. the power is on full.
the 'tech' guys w2ant me to take it in to a store but the reason i bought online is because i cant get to a store! grrrr0 -
Will it read any other SD card? Perhaps yours may 'suddenly' have gone bad.helenathena wrote: »I bought a packard bell imedia b2619 last week and it won't read my sd card.0 -
i dont have any other SD cards but this one works in other computers / laptops
when i insert it the light comes on (but nobodys home ha!)0 -
i found this on another site, do you think this is the case here?
"SDHC cards are designed for devices that are compatible with the SDHC 2.00 thats why it will only read it of the camera and not the card directly. This new SDA 2.00 (SD Card Association) specification enables SD cards to reach higher capacities they range from 4GB to 32GB for now and SDA is not Backward compatible.
So your computer is NOT SDHC compatible you need to buy a SDHC compatible card reader, that solved my problem."
ive noticed my card does say SD really big then HC smaller.. it is 4GB though0 -
If you want a workaround solution buy one of these. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000VY80AM/ref=ox_ya_os_product0
