I've just been talking to a Dell engineer, (I had a machine arrive with a dodgy motherboard) and he was telling me Dell had a huge problem with a shipment of dodgy capacitors on motherboards.
Apparently he's replacing 3 motherboards a week...

anybody any further info?

Maybe thats why Dell machines always seem to be on offer !

We have had several capacitor problems at work, and a few fan/psu issues.
When the fan sounds as though it is about to take off, thats the apparent warning sign.
