I recently sold come goods on ebay with the auctions finishing last wednesday evening. I was away on holiday til friday lunch
My domestic handling time was set to "usually dispatch with in 3 days of receiving cleared funds" and the postage method was "Special Delivery".
On the Friday, I received an irate email from a winning bidder wanting to know where her goods were as she paid by paypal on Wednesday Evening.
I explained I hade been away and would dispatch the goods on Saturday by Special Delivery. She then replied stating she has paid for special delivery and had waited in all Friday for the goods.
I told her that the domestic handling time was 3 days and saturday was still within this timescale. She then demanded a full refund because I had not delivered the goods. I have offered a second chance to the second bidder and am awaiting a reply.
I gave her a full refund but was wondering if she was correct and how can I stop her negging me?

i dont think she was right 3 working days Thursday, Friday Possibly Saturday?
what right did she have to assume u would post on thursday? it would be harsh if she negs u as u refunded her... Democracy is a process by which the people are free to choose the man who will get the blame.:j0 -
If she wanted the item on a specific date, or urgently, she should have contacted you to arrange this prior to bidding. My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
First of all, why on earth would she wait in all day when she didn't know what day the goods would arrive as you never stated when you posted them. SD is next day so it's not that hard to contact the seller and ask them to let them know when the item has been posted.
In my impression she is an idiot and completely in the wrong. And as someone else clearly said, three working days (does not include the day of payment usually) would make it monday, and then wasting her whole day on an assumption.
If she does neg you be sure to mention her inability to contact you to check when you've posted the item, and that three working days did not include "Wednesday evening" as you have no means to get to a PO on an evening because they're closed, thus thur>fri>mon. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

nope she's not right, you could have posted the following Wednesay and whilst she could be unhappy your stateusually dispatch with in 3 days of receiving cleared funds
therefore no guarantee that they will be dispatched within 3 days, just that they might!! Why would you wait in if you don't know it's been posted....good luck with your second chance. I usually like these when I'm offered them, missed one recently as they are only limited for set period.

OP clearly states payment made wednesday evening.
Most post offices NOT open in the evening that I know about. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Yes she can neg you, but if she does then I would neg her back to warn other sellers that this is another TSFE 'Too stupid for ebay' user.
The fact that you are offering special delivery doesn't mean she can expect the goods next day, all it means that *when* you send it you will use special and it will then be delivered the next working day. Even paypal only ask that sellers despatch in a timely manner which most people take to mean a week as that is when a chargeback can be started.
One other thing, if she does neg you, or possibly even if she doesn't and you feel aggrieved by this then you can start the NPB on her on day 7 and get a strike put on her account and get your FVFs back. This is not doing anything wrong, she is an NPB as she refused to pay when you would not comply with her orders after auction end. If for any reason she doesn't respond to that NPB then she can't even leave you a feedback rating.
