Credit Reference Agency - Bank Charges

Has anyone experienced the same? In that my claim for unlawful bank charges is currently on hold (my hearing date at the local county court was on the same date all claims were "stayed" back in August 2007!) and the bank have continued, since then, to add more monthly charges to my current account (an account i no longer use as i changed when i began the reclaiming of the bank charges) - the charges have made me go over my overdraft limit and although i was trying to pay some money back into the account to offset the charges i realised this was "dead money" as each month yet more charges went on.

Checking my Experian Credit Report as i do on a monthly basis i have just seen that the Bank have recorded a "one late payment" on my account which will do no end of damage to my otherwise healthy credit report (it is the only late payment i have ever had recorded on my credit report).

The Bank are refusing to remove the late payment against my current account - even tho the account is in legal dispute since 2007 and have never recorded a late payment before - i am concerned that next month it will turn to 2 late payments and so on until they destroy my financial status via Experian and potential future lenders.

Does anyone have any advice for me which i can follow to stop the Bank making the situation worse???

I had a go at the Money Saving Expert Credit Checker - without a late payment my status came back as "Good" - i then put with a late payment and my status came back as "weak" ....

Any help much appreciated.

  • Reclaim the charges since the hold was on your account and keep it updated.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

  • Put a 'notice of correction' on your credit report too...every little helps.

Thanks loads for your response and attachment. Massively useful.

With your banking background, what can i do about the "one late payment" being recorded on my credit file? can this be objected to as my account is peding the outcome of the OFT / test case?

How can i stop it becoming 2 late payments and so on?

Why did the Bank wait over 2 years before registering a late payment??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  • Hi there,
Good call and i have already added a notice of correction on my credit report. I don't know why, after 2 years of my account being on hold pending the test case, did Barclays only now register me against a one late payment. What have i paid late if i am not on a repayment plan with them?? If they register another late payment my credit history is as good as knackered.
  • And don't worry - 1 missed payment isn't going to kill you, especially as time goes on...
