DJ Vs IPOD

One thing that would put me off having the ipod would be that there is that pause between each song, which would annoy the hell out of me lol
I think there would be more atmosphere with a DJ, but as it's a small get together, the ipod should be fine.
It's upto you though, is there no way you can source your own DJ as you would be able to get someone much cheaper than 400!
There are ways round having a pause.
Not sure if it can be done in iTunes but it is certainly do-able0

if you can change your ipod firmware to Rockbox you can make it play without gaps between songs.

If the venue own the ipod do they lend it to you to put your playlist on? It might take awhile to load it up and it sort it out, that's all I'm thinking. If you have one of your own I would use that! My partner is in radio and he uses all sorts of different programmes to get rid of the gaps, I will find out a good one for you if you don't get one sorted! ipod all the way - if you use itunes from a laptop you can set it to fade from one song to the next without a gap in playback too - you need to remeber to turn off other computer noises though if you go for this option !
i did it recently for my girlfriends parents wedding, no issue at all (but it was only for an hour or so between the band stopping and starting again)0

Definately go for the Ipod. Even if you have to buy one, you can get one for £100ish and it's yours to keep.
We did this at our wedding. Only 30 of us and everyone loved it!0

we have our own IPODs so thats no problem....I'm just worried about the atmosphere. we can set it up so the songs don't have gaps etc. But trusting our best man or ushers to press play at the right point for entrance and first dance etc is a bit daunting...specially after seeing this

I know what you mean, I have similar worries but to be honest, the dj isn't likely to be there to press play during the ceremony anyway, and as long as you make sure track numbers etc are clearly written down it shouldn't be a problem. Are you getting married in a hotel or registry office? I think registry offices do the music themselves, and (at our hotel anyway) the manager/wedding co will sort the ceremony music for us.0
