                    Hi all,
Looking for some opionions.
Getting Married next september and the package we have includes an IPOD dock and sound system, or we can pay extra (€400) to have a DJ.
what are peoples opions on either.
At first I thought DJ as it would be more atmospheric, but now cost are piling up the thought spending €400 extra doesn't thrill me. Its only a small wedding of 30 or so guests so not gonna be a massive party. Just thinking an IPOD dock might be a cold
what are your thoughts??

Unless the DJ adds to the event you would be better off with the money in your pocket, particularly for such an intimate sized affair.
You have got plenty of time to make up a few playlists before next September to load on an ipod0

I agree with Julie, for only 30 people I would go with the ipod! Do you already own one with a speaker system aswell or does the venue provide the sound system and you provide the ipod!
Have fun making your playlists! Tiger xxMarried the most amazing man 05/12/09 and it was the best day ever, I'm a Mrs, he he!!:jWins 2009: Peroni Alessi bowl woohoo, 1 in 10 wins DVD from Maltesers, Avon lippy!!!Freebies-Bold Gel, CoffeePinecone Research - £9Mystery Shopping - £150

£400 for a few cheesy lights and for the Dj to say a few words not a chance, I went to a wedding 3 weeks ago and the DJ was dire, I wouldn't have paid more than £40, I will go for the Ipod, our venue is allowing us to plug in direct to their PA system, we tested it last week and it sounds great.0

I'd say ipod, we're using either mp3 player or a laptop - going to ask the venue if we'd be able to plug into their internet then we could use spotify which would be fab!
One thing I would say is take a backup ipod or mp3 player, just in case!0

Thanks for your replies....think I was leaning more to an IPOD purely for money reasons...just never been to a wedding where this has been done so not sure how it would turn out....it would be good being able to plan our own playlist0

I recently went to do a DJ in a house party(I'm not a DJ).I downloaded free trial of a DJ Software onto my laptop, linked it to my itunes and delivered a superb non-stop music for 6hrs. I didnt collect a penny and was very happy I did it. Got so many numbers from girls. You can't keep a good man down...0

If you do do your own playlist you could put in with the rsvp space for each guest to suggest a track or two? Obviously you don't have to play them all if some are really not suitable but would help ensure everyone hears some music they like?0

Thanks Nozzy6 we are going to be doing this...that way we canget a feel for what music people are into0

One thing that would put me off having the ipod would be that there is that pause between each song, which would annoy the hell out of me lol
I think there would be more atmosphere with a DJ, but as it's a small get together, the ipod should be fine.
It's upto you though, is there no way you can source your own DJ as you would be able to get someone much cheaper than 400!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
