front row tickets

please can somebody advise me on the following dilema!

i purchased two remaining front row tickets, on the far left of the front row and whilst discussing the seats with the booking office, i enquired if they were restricted in anyway and was told "no". so in putting my trust with them, i purchased the holy grail seats at £45 each, i am a big fan of mr john barrowman and was ecstatic to finally aquire a front row posistion! i then went onto the venue website to check the seating plan, only to find they did not provide one. so again i forgot all about it, until the time arrived for the awaited show.
well we found our seats, which were situated WELL past the edge of the stage and where we found ourselves to be looking at some rather long curtains and a speaker system on the corner of the stage! we then noticed to the back of us, large groups of people were being moved and then came our turn. a lady asked us to follow her, to which i asked what was going on and she told us we were to be moved to the back for the same price we had paid. to which i replied was not good enough! so we stayed seated. the two ladies to the right of me were also complaining about the poor seats and overpriced tag! so too were going to complain. i said i was going to complain when i returned home, as i was on holiday in the channel islands .
since returning home i have been in contact with the venue and they have informed me that i was told about the restricted viewing when booking the above tickets WHICH IS LAUGHABLE and that i was offered to be moved at the time. so as a further good will gesture, they are prepaired to offer me 50% refund on just one of the tickets purchased, does anybody think that this is acceptable or what should i know do?

    venue was Jersey Fort Regent
  • if the front row was cheaper then it'd be considered officially as restricted viewing and the box office should've told you; but if its the same price, they wouldnt consider it restricted and therefore wouldn'tve had reason to tell you it was so.
in my experience the front row is always slightly restricted but most are happy to sit there in order to be the closest.

in venues where productions change regularly its difficult to gage which seats will be restricted when the tickets go onsale as the staging often varies from show to show - and one of the reasons behind preview periods is so that the producers can 'play around' with different price bands.

Where I work, we had seats that were £5 in preview, and are now priced at £50; and others that were more, and after so many complaints, have been lowered and labelled as restricted.

Try the theatremonkey site, as they have most seating plans, with reviews of each seat.
