Moving into a flatshare for 1st time

I'm moving from my parents to a flatshare but am concerned about changing my address officially for at least a few months in case things dont work out. I was going to change car insurance and driving licence documents but other than that is there anyone else I HAVE to notify?
The other issue is that the person I'm sharing with (who is a policeman) has said he wont put me on voting forms cos he wants to keep his "single person" council tax discount, should I be worried?
Also, are there any other things I need to consider?
Thanks
Em

What the policeman is proposing is fraud. Once you move in, he automatically loses his right to single person council tax discount and has to notify the council of the position. He should have set the rent at a level to cover the additional cost to himself. You can put yourself on the electoral roll for your new area anyway and don't become complicit in his fraud by not doing so. You can choose not to register in that area, but it should be your choice, not because your landlord wants to cheat.0

Perhaps just get your post redirected by Royal Mail for the time being. If you have a car you'll need to let your insurance company know I would imagine? But everything else should be fine...
I think it is wrong that you need to keep it on the quiet - although this would be his problem if he was ever found out - it is worrying though that you have a dishonest potential flatmate!!0 -
I would be seriously worried about this guys comment about the council tax discount. He obviously doesn't want anyone to know you are living there. Will you have an agreement and a rent book?0

Are you going to be paying half of the bills? If so then is he expecting you to pay half of the single person tax cause if you are then he is really having a laugh

Things may have changed, but some while ago the police had to inform their employer if they were sharing accommodation with someone.0
