Judging by the amount of shops shutting in my town I'd say it was rather F shaped... and brown! ;-)0

1. the reason businesses are reporting small profits is due to the cut backs they made previously
2. any growth in sales is because VAT is due to go up(to what I hear you ask) in Jan 1st, so anyone with half a brain is getting big ticket items done NOW
3 Post the VAT increases, there will be a lull in purchases (who wants to pay more VAT) this lull will stifle any growth again, as new tax rates hit hard......whoever comes to power!
As I said on the radio recently, it's stopped getting worse, but next year will be tough, especially in the first quarter of 2010.
