I have a new laptop, have a choice whether to use Norton 360 or the free McAfee installation from Yahoo/Bt inernet??
I have Norton360 on my home PC and it has an option to use on up to 3 PC's. I thought it was probably the best way to go??? at least until it runs out next June??

Free CAN be better than paid for.
So keeping an inferior product on your shiny new machine, just because it was on it when bought, is not always the best option.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
I would ditch McAfee, remember to use the removal tool for a complete uninstall..

If you have been happy with Norton360 on your home computer then use it again.0 -
All good advice, mind you there is some benefit to be had in having different AVs running on your different machines....
Rather than having all your eggs in one basket if a virus did come along anti virus brand X hadn't been updated to recognise by its manufacturer you might find brand Y might well pick it up and let you know there's a problem

McAfee = useless
Norton = OK
Now to the comment above, nothing wrong with the advice, but just make sure you don't have more than 1 antivirus on any one system! You can run on demand scanners safely enough, but having 2 antivirus' causes all sorts of problems.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
Id recommend KASPERSKY and use the proper REMOVAL TOOL to remove whatever you use now:idea:0

Presumably you didn't read the responses correctly then.
If you want to stick with one of the two you mentioned, dump McAfee (it's poor) and use Norton 360 which is generally good for a commercial one.
If you don't want to use a commercial one then use Avira AntiVir it's the best free one, and better than many commercial scanners.
If you want to spend more money (certainly not required) review NOD32 and Kaspersky.0
