There isn't an age limit on chewing. Some dogs just love to chew stuff. If a dog is chewing inappropriately it will be because they can.
Dogs chew for recreation, when they are bored, when they are anxious and probably a whole host of other reasons.
The secret is to not give the dog access to anything you don't want chewed. Everything is a chew toy to a puppy.
Also provide adequate mental and physical stimulation outside so that the dog rests when inside.A dog with a behaviour problem needs help not punishment.0 -

Oh right. I misunderstood...... I think. I thought you meant adult dogs shouldn't chew.A dog with a behaviour problem needs help not punishment.0 -
some dogs do go through a second stage of trying to chew everything at about 12-18 months old.. to do with adolescence and second teeth bedding in I believe!
However, as with any chewing, it can become habitual so you have to be on top of training, keeping things out of the way, and offering appropriate things to chew instead!0 -
One of my flipflops went for a burton this morning. I think it was just too close to mutts nose and she couldn't be bothered getting up to find a proper toy.
I think she's one of the habitual chewers unfortunately and not going to change now.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
