Just out of curiousity..how would I know if we had been served a section 21..as I dont recall signing anything like that and there is nothing in the paperwork
A S21 is not something a tenant has to sign, it perfectly valid without a tenants signature but often a tenant is asked to sign as proof of receipt. It should mention Section 21 and say something along the lines if I require possession after 5th May (or whatever). Sounds like you don't have one yet.

If the landlord does agree to release you early get all agreements in writing from the landlord including stating the date you will stop being liable for rent.

Otherwise as I said you don't have to leave when the S21 says so either way you won't have to move too near May 5th.

another way might be if you could find another tenant to take your place - if the LL/LA agree then you could move much sooner

talk to your LL - the LA wont want to know....
  • I think we will just have to appeal to our landlords better nature..I wouldnt want to stay longer than our tenancy agreement as we pride ourselves on being good tenants and wouldnt want to blot our copysheet...also I doubt we would get any one else to rent for such a short space of time
