FJ Amilo pi2515 - broken pin in AC socket

Hi all
Hope you can help...
Tripped over laptop cable and broke pin in ac socket.
Took it for repair and was told it had 'burnt out' motherboard. Can this have happened and if so is it actually beyond economical repair as I was told?
If not, where can I get it done or could I do it?
Thanks in anticipation
Andy

If it broke in such a way that it could immediately not be used, then it's very unlikely to have burnt out anything on the motherboard. They probably didn't want the job and hoped to sell you a replacement.
If it was used for any length of time after the socket was damaged, it may have been arcing internally, which could have burnt a small area of the board - possibly irreparably depending on the extent.
Whether you can repair it yourself depends more on your own skills in dismantling and soldering than anything else - other than the availability of parts, of course... However, those sockets are typically only a couple of quid if they are the normal generic ones.0 -
