Lloyds TSB Business Account Bank Charges

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice please.

I recently requested my business account bank charges back from Lloyds TSB. I am suffering severe financial hardship and I made this clear to them at the time.

I received a reply saying that I am unable to reclaim my charges as they relate to a business account and I am not therefore a 'consumer'.

Is this actually correct? I have heard that there is another way to go about reclaiming business account charges, but I am not sure of the details.

I would appreciate any advice that anyone has for me regarding this.

Many thanks in advance of your help.

  • You're not a consumer in law with a business account nor can you use financial hardship either since the waiver does not apply to business accounts.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

No but you can use the business banking code to make a complaint to the bank about the charges. They still have to treat you sympathetically and if you are a small business you can still take your case through the financial ombudsman.

  • I hear that some banks will hear complaints from small sole traders and make an offer, however many just advise "doesnt apply to business accounts".

Similarly, RBS decision to slash return and overlimit fees doesnt apply to business accounts either - B2B is entirely different.

And lastly, if trying to make a claim, you would be best advised to try and claim return and overlimit fees only - transactional charges are standard for business accounts...
