Almost everyday I park in a "Resident Permit Holder or 3 hours and no return within 1 hour" roadside bay. I'm in town all day but I move my car to a different area after the 3 hours. And never had problem until now.

I usaully park up about 11 and move my car at 2
The PCN says observed from 10:54 to 13:59
So when I arrived at my car at 2 I found a ticket on it.
I know I have over run the time. I had got there slighly earlier and looked a my watch and rounded it up. I must of been there earlier than PCN says because because i doubt they obverved my car straight away. But it was geniue mistake, easy mistake to make, and it was only a few mintues over. I think this is silly it's not like I was parked there all day.

I don't want to pay. I'm looking for loopholes.
I have checked the ticket and its valid.
What can I appeal against when it comes to markings and signage?
What am I looking out for?
Are there any guides?

Thank You!

  • You're sure the ticket is valid? Absolutely sure? Want to play safe? Photo's of ticket (both sides), signs, lines etc would enable those in the know to help you. Follow stickies on how to.

I'm sure it is valid. I found list somewhere that had everything that a valid PCN should have on it. Can't find it now. I don't have a scanner or a camera but i'll try a get picture of it (will need a camera if taking pictures if signs etc)

What should a PCN have on it?
What should the sign look like?
What should the markings look like?

    Thank you
  • It would not be possible to elaborate on what it needs to say, it'll be far easier if someone can see both sides of it. Do you have a mobile phone with camera?
Signs need to be as regulations as do the lines of any bay and the dimensions and distances of any lines.

  • I will try and scan it tomorrow. But could you try to give me list of what it should include

Look forward to seeing the scan/image, Nednats ;)
"Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

    Here is the sign:

    looks alright according to this:

but do signs have to have a zone indentifer?

    Here is the bay:

Can't find anything to check this with. But I though bays have to have a set of Double lines at on end of the bay this one doesn't or does the line from the other bay count?

Can anyone help me out here?
    Any ideas anyone?

    Thank you

    I will bump your question.

If no-one on here can answer about the legality of the lines and signs then I would suggest you ask the same question on the forums of www.pepipoo.com

They will know and they will reply quickly IMHO. Time is of the essence so don't hang about asking on the pepipoo website, then getting your appeal in.

    Good luck.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
