Sky Digital - Trying To Reduce Subscription Is Expensive !!!!!

 Is it just me or do others find that SKY packages are getting too expensive, especially when they are the biggest in the UK.
I have had Sky + with them for over 3 years. During that time I have had the full premium package with them, I managed to get that reduced to half price for 3 months at the end of last year, however have now decided to reduce my package to a cheaper alternative. Anyway so I phone up Sky to get this done, I am told that because I am coming off a premium package and going on a cheaper package. (In effect cutting my monthly subscription from £42:50 a month to £21 ) I am told that in addition to my £21 a month new subscription, I will ALSO have to pay £10 per month extra to use the facility of Pausing and recording live TV, therefore putting my subscription up to £31 a month.
Its hidden away in their terms and conditions booklet, s if we read and understand them !!!!!!
Anyway just a warning to other members, be careful if you are trying to save money as SKY are making it difficult for you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone else had similar experiences with them ?

Get yourself a normal digibox not a sky+ one and get a dvd recorder. They both do the same job. Initial extra costs but over time you'll save money.0

Thanks for the prompt advice,
At the moment you can phone SKY using the freephone number of 0800 587 5707, then DON'T press the star button twice when it prompts you, you will then automatically be put through to an advisor !
Every little helps !0 -
To be fair to Sky, it's quite plain in all their literature nowadays, that if you don't subscribe to 1 premium line up, you have to pay the £10/month extra.
They probably didn't specify it well enough beck when you took it out.Dave. :wave:0 -

I had exactly the same problem when i lowered my package, Ithought i was disgusting considering I had bought my SKY + box at full price and not subsidised,
Considering all sky do is send a 1 time signal for you to be able to use the record facility,
I recently sent there customer services an e-mail stating how unhappy i was with this cost, they replied it was due to a customer survey they had completed with the customers wanting the cheapest boxes and this was for research, they then went on to tell me the benefits of sky+ bla bla bla even though i have had sky + for over a year, i replied with another e-mail stating their responses were more like a politicians answers as they hadn't actually answered the original question,
10 days later, I am awaiting another reply,
I am considering writing to Watchdog or OFTEL over these ludicrous charges
I urge every Sky + user to do the same..
Well, thats my 10 pence worth anyway, i get so annoyed I am just typing this to get out my frustrations with Sky
so apologies for any spelling mistakes

There's no need to reduce your package.
I have Sky+ with all premium channels (Movies and Sport) and I pay £31 a month.
All you need to do is ensure you have been a customer for at least 12 months.
Then call up Sky, tell them you're THINKING of cancelling and you can't afford the £42 a month and you've seen other deals with Cable/Freeview etc.
They will then offer you 1/3 off your subscription for the next 12 months.0
