Oh, rather exciting news - if my calculations are correct my new signature update may have a glowing 'total debt'. Won't say too much now (it's not 0 before anyone gets excited) but it could be below a milestone figure. Will update on Friday!Light Bulb 13/09/09: £15,061.37 Debts at their highest:

Thanks, I'm looking forward to it too.
May have a change in direction in the next few months, thinking I could clear my credit card a lot quicker if I focus on that one. We'll see. Need to do my sums!!Light Bulb 13/09/09: £15,061.37 Debts at their highest:

A sneaky signature update as I got my wage slip today. Either I have made a huge mistake with my spreadsheet or my finances got healthier by nearly £900 in one month. I was paid my back pay, but not a huge amount. I have also put more away in savings than previous months, but still surprised myself when I did the sums!!
Not going to complain though, well done me!!
It has definitely spurred me on to think more about paying off the credit card rather than add to savings, but will continue to address this question over the coming months.
Hope everyone else is feeling this good about payday!!Light Bulb 13/09/09: £15,061.37 Debts at their highest:

Hope you don't mind, but I thought I would pop a wee note to say a "Fantastic Well Done" for your moneysaving/changing ways! I spent yesterday about 2 hours!!!!, reading your diary and it is a great inspiration, that dealing with your debts can be done. I've been lurking on the MSE site for a good couple of years now and really the 1st time posting!!!!
I've subscribed and can't wait to hear the progress you are making along with your fellow MSE's!Pay off as Much as You Can Challenge 2011 £8.5K Jan '11 £1,901.80/£8,500.00

Thanks lou06, always good to hear people like reading my diary - I often wonder whether what I'm writing is in fact a load of rubbish!
It's not been easy, but seeing the signature update each month has really spurred me on. A huge fraction of the debt has been cleared as a result of selling my car, but it was a car I didn't need or afford - that was the first step to 'real' moneysaving for me.
I will try to keep my posts interesting for you and any other readers!Light Bulb 13/09/09: £15,061.37 Debts at their highest:

Another credit card closed. It's had no balance on it for the past 6 months, but now it is officially closed which is a good feeling!!Light Bulb 13/09/09: £15,061.37 Debts at their highest:
