PC World: Laptop Return

Hi.

I bought an Acer timeline 5810T from PC World at the end of July...
I have only used it for about a total of 14 days and it randomly crashes when I have lots of documents open. I informed PC World before I purchased it that I needed a laptop for work purposes and would be using the internet and multiple documents in office.

As its new and has anti virus so I doubt there would be a virus on it, I can't understand why it does this.

Does anyone know where I stand with my consumer rights? I spoke to PC world who have told me to do a system restore but I dont really see why I should need to do that after a short period using the laptop...

Am I able to take it back to PC world and demand a new laptop as this one was obviously mis-sold to me...

Any thoughts?....

It wasn't "mis-sold", it could have a hardware issue or it could have had some sort of software issue (which you might of caused).

Try a system restore - if that doesn't work then take it back to the store.
Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.

    2 choices :-

Try the system restore - it is probably just that.

The other choice is pack it all up, take it back, leave it there, PC world will do a system restore, you will have to go all the way back for it (probably after maybe a fortnight).

I know which i would choose.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • It depends if there was a fault with the laptop as sold.

Seems reasonable to try a system restore. It's not going to invalidate any warranty or anything. It might fix the problem.

But if you don't want to give that a try, take it back to the store where you bought it and tell them you believe it's faulty and want to return it. According to their Returns Policy "If there is a fault with your product within 12 months of delivery (or other defect with your order), we will normally offer a prompt repair, exchange or refund."

I would imagine that PC World would NOT offer you an exchange or a refund, but would offer a repair, and that that would amount to running the benchmarks, doing a system restore, running the benchmarks again, and returning it to you. But that's just my guess.
