Can anyone give me some advice please?

My daughter used to own an Mr2 and was sent a parking penalty notice for an alleged parking somewhere on private property. The company claim this happened back in April 2008!!! We sent them a letter asking them for proof, they responded with a letter requesting £5 for the photograph of the car. We ignored this latter letter after reading on this web site and have now received a letter requesting £135! My daughter is very upset over this.
The letter has several errors in and mentions debt recovery section/agents and court proceedings etc I am worried about this now as she is only 21 and therefore could do without this hassle.

Where have they been in pursuing this matter sooner!

Thank you in advance for your replies.

    Ignore.

They can no more fine you than I can.

You will get letters from them, debt collectors and solicitors (all probably from the same office) with increasingly absurd claims and lots of red ink threatening you with court action, credit rating damage etc etc. They won't do court in spite of what the numpty who started this thread claims.

If you are concerned I suggest you start your own thread on the issue in the meantime !!!! em and get on with your life.

  • They probably leave it for so long as you might well pay it thinking you had parked in their car park.
Just ignore them, had they a case they would have done something well before now. You'll probably get something from a psuedo lawyer or debt collector. Be strong and file these as well.

If they failed again in responding then a further £30 would be added to the now outstanding £145 debt owed and we would proceed to the small claims, so much so we used to take approx 50 people to court each month.

Give us one piece of evidence of taking ANYONE to court never mind 50 people a month. I would say to your face you are a liar.
  • Out of interest, if you park on private property that is marked 'permit holders only' and there is a threat of, say, £100 fine if you do, is this enforceable ? (I have not had the experience, but have often wondered).
Thank you for reading this message.

It is not a "fine", and it's not enforceable because it is illegal to demand a penalty that bears no relation to the actual loss suffered by the land-owner

Ill informed advice regardless of whether or not you used to work for a PPC.

    "Penalty" :lol:

Where are these 50 people a month that get taken to court? Of the thousands of people that post on here, CAG and Pepipoo, I'd estimate less than 1% ever see the inside of a courtroom and less than 1% of them lose their case.

Back to the drawing board Perky.

These posters are getting as bad as spam with their made up stories and incorrect advice.
Wonder I the MSE team would consider adding another button which just said B0LL0CKS.

Or a cute little icon, like this perhaps
