Keep having a recurring dream - starting to get very scared!

Please people, don't laugh
. I keep having a recurring dream, but last night it got worse. It's starting to creep me out.
I keep having a dream that I am walking through a part of my city and I see a plane flying dead, dead low. All of a sudden it blows up mid air. At this point I wake up.....usually shaking!
Last night though I dreamt it was a specific airline (wont say which in case you're about to fly anywhere!) and it carried on flying, but crashed into the shopping centre! I walked into the shopping centre (as you would ) and the cockpit was still intact and I could see all the dead people and one was trying to tell me something - then I wokeup screaming!!!
I've thought about it non-stop today - am I going totally bonkers???????? How can i get it to stop????

Do you think that this might have anything to do with 9/11. There's been so many images on the television recently which are still unsettling several years after the event.0

Dreams like this normally stop once you've worked out what they're about and what you're trying to work out but haven't got the jist of yet.
For example, dreaming someone you know is pregnant might mean you've picked up on the friend not drinking alcohol on recent nights out and have been wondering if they're trying for a baby but you haven't asked them outright.
Dreaming you hear someone talking about you behind your back might be because you're worried about an upcoming appraisal at work.
I have had dreams in the past of being with a mystery person other than my partner - even though I hadn't yet acknowledged the relationship was in trouble my subconcious had, and I think that's why I was dreaming of someone different.
In your case 9/11 will have been in the news recently, along with a thread on here a bout did anyone see the airbus didn't it look big, wasn't it low flying and you subconcious has put the two of them together for some reason. You just need to work out why - itmight just be your brain making sense of it.
It's just your brain making sense of the information you've taken in during the day, so while it's scary at the time it's not going to come true.;)
Have a think, and let us know what you work it out to be! (MAybe you've an elderly driver in your family that you worry is going to crash. It is sometimes the wierdest, most tenuous linksMAybe someone you know is taking risks and you think it's all going to come to a head soon (risky flying, then blowing up))

Maybe it could have been - I know I saw an advert for the said airline on ITV last night
It just really gives me the creeps...gets to the point that when I hear a low flying plane I start thinking "for gods sake stay in the sky" and I can't settle until it's flown over!Avon Representative October 2010: C16: £276 :T C17: £297 :j0 -

I've had the "milder" dream for about two-three years, it always blows up in the exact same spot over the city......some dream website said it was linked to work and unachieveable goals. I must admit when I stepped down from my previous, higher role, they stopped completely. But last night it came back bigger and worse!!!
Maybe it's gods way of telling me to keep away from the shops!
My brother flies on this particular airline now and again and I keep panicking now because I know he's going to USA next month!Avon Representative October 2010: C16: £276 :T C17: £297 :j0 -
Either you are psychic or more realistically you get this dream when you are under pressure at work (judging by your last post?) perhaps you should look at your stress at work and see if it is related.
Hope the dream stops soon.0 -
I'd agree with Oldernot wiser.
Been a lot of 9/11 programmes on recently what with the anniversary and such.
Even if you've not watched them and seen the traylors or adds - it brings it all back. I have watched a few and have been reminded that it was the most traumatic event i've ever witnessed though not been any part of.
You could be going through some kind of trauma yourself that your consious isn't aware of or worries that are not apparaent right now.
Let the dreams happen and go with them.
I used to have dreams of massive tidal waves, before the tsunami, and being unable to walk. They overwelmed me for a time and scared the living daylights out of me but did pass.
Maybe the brain, or subcontious needs some time out of all this predictable lifestyle we lead. Give it some credit and some time and hopefully, soon, you'll be dreaming of nicer things.0 -
Quite the opposite- I've never been as stress free at work, do shorter hours, no responsibilty - i love it! Very bizarre!!
Had to share it with you guys - I think my husband thinks I'm bonkers!Avon Representative October 2010: C16: £276 :T C17: £297 :j0 -

I wonder if it is because we were actually flying when 9/11 happened. We were coming back from Turkey at the same time and didn't realise what had happened til we landed.
Why on earth didn't I think of that until just now???????Avon Representative October 2010: C16: £276 :T C17: £297 :j0 -

Why on earth didn't I think of that until just now???????
Cause although it happened 8 years ago, it'll always be in the back of our minds regardless of the latest reminders.
& in fact is you were in the air at the time and didn't, like me and others witness it live, but learnt later - that just proves your vulnerability as we all are. Nasty things happen behind us all the time that we are unaware of but we often can't understand WHY we weren't aware when they happen - it often highlights just how fragile we all are.
Let your dreams do thier thing, its for a reason. If they do begin to takeover your ability to function day in and out, then maybe think of getting some help. Though I sometimes think making a deal of it and talking (coucilling) can just provoke it and make it worse.0 -
So you've worked out a bit more now - you WERE involved more than some were in 9/11. I was at work, nowhere near a plane or a tower block.
So maybe you have unresolved fears about flying that you'd not thought of before - are you thinking of booking a holiday soon? MAybe you work in a tower building and notice the fire exits aren't always clear and haven't spoken up about it yet - it could be something really simple.
It might be whenever someone you love flies these dreams start up again - you 'll work it out eventually!Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
