Combi Boiler Hot WAter Temperature Fluctuations
Hello everyone,
I have an Ariston Micro Genus HE Combi boiler. It's worked fine for the past two years but now there are temperature flucutaions whenever the hot water is used - hot to cool. I asked BG to come have a look and the engineer said it was most likely sludge/solder in the central heating pipes and I should get a MagnaClean installed. But in the mean time he said to increase water temp on boiler to iron out the fluctuations. It worked for a a week but now the fluctuations are back.
I've also had time to think I am starting to wonder if what he said was entirely true as I haven't used central heating this summer. Also I've always assumed that in a combi boiler the central heating and hot water systems are separate.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so what is the solution to the hot water temp. fluctuations. Also am I being duped by BG into installing a Magna Clean £250 which includes installation. Thanks

Our house was new when we moved in. I had Fernox put into the hot water system and have had no problems in 15 years. Same for our old house where we lived 15 years. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

Get an independet plumber out to look at it. Whenever I had a problem with my boiler, I would call up three plumbers from the Corgi website (now Gas Safe) then go with whichever could fix it at a reasonable price providing each one gave the same diagnosis. You can definitely it cheaper than British Gas.0

Make sure you have the correct pressure in the boiler. I have had exactly the same issue with mine and it was just a build up of dust on a fan which caused it to slow down which then resulted in the water temp fluctuating. Cost me £50 to get sorted and this included a service from an independent plumber I got thru check-a-trade, I believe all BG ever do is sell you a system flush, get some quotes.

thanks for the tips everyone, guess I will get a magnaclean installed if it saves money in the long run. The boiler was only serviced a week ago and as I have a homecare agreement I guess I'll have to call them out again0
