Finally, I can join.

After months of sighing, wishing and some downright obvious hints to the OH, he finally popped the question the other day!

So my months of secretly lurking on here, with lots of oooos, ahhhhs and general jealousy of you all can now start to pay off.

The threads on here seem so helpful and the budget tips will come in handy as although my parents are paying for some bits, I want to be able to contribute.

Thanks in advance for any advice/ideas proffered or for any stupid questions I might ask. :o

  • Thank you. :D

Started looking at venues and have a couple of favourites lined up to visit in two weeks. We're aiming for next October as we'll have been together 10 years. Hoping we can get 10/10/10 for that reason but I think people will have already booked that so I'm happy with any date in October.

All depends on money! As usual.

    Hi and congratulations!!!!

If you want 10/10/10 you better get looking sharpish. I went on a site and I got sent about 45 lots of info from various venues and only 2 of them still had that date free.

We're getting married on the 2nd October next year, we only chose that date as for the past 2 years we're gone away for the 1st week in October, and my Dad said he would have the kids for a week so we can go away the first week again, but just the 2 of us!

Good luck with the planning xx

Im so glad im not the only lurker! .. My OH has gone from NEVER wanting to marry to "we'll probably get married one day"
sooo there is hope! .. Not sure how to broach the whole setting a day chat tho, we kinda made a commitment to each other rather than engagement because at the time he said NOway to marraige althouh im still waiting for a ring hahahaha
oh well ill lurk and write notes ;)
Hoping to be a thinner me in 2010!
  • Yeah - I have started the hunt for that date. If I don't get it, then I won't be heart broken, it'd just be nice. That's part of my problem, I have no patience. I don't want to wait.

The good thing is with the lurking I've done I have some good ideas already. The wait is worth it.

    Congratulations!!!:j

I'm another lurker waiting for a proposal. You've been very patient, we're approaching 5 years together! He's gone from "I'm anti marriage" to "I can imagine getting married" to "I want to marry you", yet still no proposal. The commitment is so important to me that we can't move forward without it. :(
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!
  • Big congratulations!

We looked at 10/10/10 but decided against it as it's my birthday. Brought it forward to this year instead so we get married in 9 weeks time,(only been together just over 2 years, Oh hasn't officially asked yet either it was just a lets get married LOL.) AARRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!! Help so much to plan still!!!
  • Oooooh it's sooooo exciting! I was also a lurker, living in hope that I'd get a proposal and my OH was same as your guys - last year he dropped the bombshell that he'd rather go travelling than get married in front of my whole family - I don't have the travelling bug so was naturally devastated... but he propsed whilst on holiday last month and we're getting married next Summer. So lurkers, hang onto your dreams cos they DO come true - but I'll send some wishes your way tonight to hurry the process along a bit!!! Oh and hello and congrats to fellow brides to be x x x
