Egg - PPI Phoneline?

Hi
I've just looked at a statement from a loan I took out with Egg in jan 2005. The loan was for £11388.00 with repayment protection for £4627.74.
I think I cancelled my PPI a couple of years ago but can't remember and am currently trying to find out. My statement has and opening and closing balance which has "including repayment protection)" in brackets next to each balance.
Anyway, I'm going to ring up and check the status of the PPI and if need be cancel it.
My question though, eventually, is that the egg webstie has a number for making a claim on an existing policy. Does this number actually work or am i better off writing the letters?
P.S i've just been married and haven't changed my name yet, should I do it now or just wait til I've claimed???
Thank you!!!

Hi there.;)
I agree its best to keep everything in writing, keep copies in case you have to refer to them at a later date.
It makes no difference when you make a reclaim, so not to worry if you do this before your married or married, yet the money would come in handy wouldn't it?;)
Again you can still make a reclaim if you cancelled or not, but if you require further paperwork, maybe it would be a good idea to SAR (Subject Access Request), where they have 40 days to comply and send everything as requested on the SAR, as much as they can possibly send that they have on your account.
With this you enclose £10 postal order or cheque payment, and its best as well like all letters to post by recorded delivery.

Then if you require help with this when your ready, please post up, good luck.;)
