Toshiba laptop wont play disk games

My daughter has a toshiba laptop, she just tryed and put the sims cd in to play and a message comes up saying to put the disk in which the disk is in, so i thought i would unistall the sims and start again, well now u normally get a message to carry on and click here etc well theres no message and dont know where to go to install the sims again any help would be great Thanks

i really hate the sims, great game but the pc installs suck.
insert the cd and click "my computer" - cd drive - then see if you can find the auto run or install file - click this0
