I bet if she went to Sony the repair could be quicker, If I ran a shop, I would take twenty eight dyas just to process the repair in the first place!0

Why let Sony get away with poor service and why should the OP go to the time and trouble of dealing with Sony when HMV should resolve the issue.
I see what you're saying, don't get me wrong there. It IS HMV's responsibility, however, in the case that they are refusing to, it would be prudent to contact Sony to see if they can provide a solution which is easier and quicker. If they can, I don't see any reason to keep banging one's head against a wall trying to get HMV to sort it out.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
 Now 20% cooler0

Oh, and by the way... exactly what did your post add to the sum of human knowledge?0

Which was all I was suggesting earlier. 0 0

And would Sony charge to fix the problem?
Would you have to pay postage to send the item to Sony, who pays the cost of postage for returning the item back?
Just checked the above and cost of postage is down to the consumer.....
This Guarantee does not cover transport costs and risks associated with transport of your product to and from Sony or an ASN member.0

Far more than any contribution you have ever made.
BTW weird sense of humour you have.
Like I say, let those who know what they are talking about deal with the issue. Your advice was misplaced and disingenuous. It did nothing to help the OP."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."
"A dream? Really, Doctor. You'll be consulting the entrails of a sheep next. "0

Sorry to read through the whole of the post but if its been mentioned already I apologise as its getting late. But why don't you take it back to a different HMV? Just tell them this is your local store and the one you purchased the item at was while you were visting friends? Also look for an inexperienced assistant much like the young girl you originally spoke to who would be willing to accept the return. Underhanded practices I know but hey when the gloves are off you need to get down and dirty!Credit card and overdraft at 18. 2 loans and 3 storecards at 20. University education flushed down the toilet through debt at 22. Car finance at 23. Car repossessed at 24. Rock bottom at 25. Learnt my lesson 26-33. Now 34 with a mortgage on an affordable house, a car paid for with cash and a bank account in credit. I learnt the hard way.0
